Hoist them flags...

Posted by Cheng Jie

It's the 23rd of February. And we all know what that means... it's Brunei's National Day.

Well actually, Brunei got it's independence on the 1st of January 1984, but well we can't have 2 major celebrations on the same day. And since we can't postpone the celebration of the New Year, Brunei celebrates it's independence on the 23rd of February.

Now, to most of us students, national day has always been associated with flag waving line-ups...

Flag waving...or rather flag posing o.o? **

Or with march passes and field performances...

But really National Day is more than that. It is a day to acknowledge that the nation has reached another year of independence and to acknowledge the achievements of our country. It is a day to remind us to always be patriotic, to hoist our nation's flag with pride and with honour.

Salute to the flag...

Although I'm not local, I feel blessed to live in such a peaceful country, a country not prone to natural disasters, one with great infrastructure, a country with a stable economy and perhaps best of all, the envy of our neighbours...

Oil prices so dirt low, it's cheaper than water...

Happy National Day!!!

MERDEKA!!!
